At New York Comic Con, Toei unveiled the first trailer for Dragon Ball Daima, confirming that the young Goku will return, immediately sparking comparisons to Dragon Ball GT within the fan community. However, unlike Dragon Ball GT, creator Akira Toriyama will be heavily involved in the production process, and this new anime has been cherished for over four years. Dragon Ball Daima Anime Emerges for Fall 2024 Adventure!

This news was previously announced at the Dragon Ball panel at New York Comic Con, where a brief teaser was also shown. While the teaser was initially blocked out on the livestream, Toei Animation released it online shortly after, revealing a de-aged Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and more. Much of the first episode of Daima was showcased in the revealing trailer. Right from the start, there will be a significant change in animation. It is known that the episode will begin in the vintage style of Dragon Ball Z, with some characters in the series created to resemble the chibi style, but not exactly chibi. The imagery in this new series evokes memories of the 90s version that fans greatly appreciated since the release of the Dragon Ball Z comic series. However, this new series indicates that it will be adapted into a newer, more modern-looking genre similar to Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which was released in 2018. According to the trailer, two unnamed antagonists have cursed Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and the remaining heroes, turning them into children. However, they cannot return to their adult bodies by using the wish from the Dragon Balls to break the curse because it comes from the demon realm.

This ultimately leads Goku and Supreme Kai to start the first part of Dragon Ball Daima, where they will visit new locations, encounter new characters, and try to reverse the curse. Moreover, Dragon Ball Daima features scenes with blood, something almost absent in Dragon Ball Super. This may be because the series will be streamed online rather than broadcast on television. Interestingly, Toriyama is overseeing the screenplay of the series and editing them to keep the series more in line with the author's vision compared to production issues that troubled Dragon Ball Super. Dragon Ball Daima is set to premiere in Fall 2024. More information will be announced in January during a Dragon Ball games battle hour event.
